“Tu pelo es la corona que nunca te quitas” – Coco Chanel

I am not one for having my nails done. I don’t regularly have my hair done. I don’t wear make-up and my skincare routine is a makeup wipe, every so often, unless I’m feeling extravagant and then Alex moisturises, tones and cleanses my face.
But, before my holiday, my nails were, well disgusting, my hair needed a quick boost and my eyebrows were well a monobrow. oops.
If you’re looking for a bit of a pamper around Benidorm, then these two places are guaranteed to make you feel a million and one euros.
Claire’s – Manicure, Pedicure and Eyebrow Wax
I used to always have my eyebrows waxed, that was my one pamper. I loved how good my eyebrows would look after having them waxed and tinted, let’s face it, they’re a key feature on your face. They have to be done well. So, I would regularly go to Benefit at Fosse Park, to Simran to have them done.
Since being in Benidorm, I haven’t had them done except for when I’ve gone back to Leicester. The gap was pretty large this time, anybody looked at the flights recently?! woah! so I was in dire need to have them done.
I was recommended Salon Claire’s Hair Beauty Nails Albir Spain.
I made my appointment via Facebook on the same day. It did mean taking the Benidorm tram from C.C La Marina and then crossing at Benidorm taking the Denia tram getting off at Albir. It wasn’t the easiest of journeys via tram!
I was pretty nervous about not having my eyebrows done by Benefit. I was also worried about damaging my nails and feet.
The Salon itself is very professional and finished, the staff wear a uniform and are all welcoming and polite. We were offered a selection of drinks throughout the time.
I had my eyebrows waxed first. It was an actual outstanding experience. I’m used to sitting full view of Boots customers, whereas at Claire’s I was in a relaxing massage room, laid down on a massage bed. Ainsley was really intricate and waxed my eyebrows perfectly, exactly how I wanted them.
I honestly didn’t even feel my eyebrows being waxed. Ainsley used creams and even a blow machine to remove any hair that had stuck to my face. The water blower is a godsend on a hot summer’s day.
Cool, relaxing sounds of the radio were playing in the background and the lights were dimmed. It is truly the best eyebrow wax I’ve ever had.
I then went into the nail area to have my nails manicured. I opted for ‘normal’ nail varnish as I’d heard horror stories of shellac and I’m sure I’m still paying the price for acrylics when I was 18.
Ainsley was really attentive and gave me so much information about manicuring and nails in general. She explained to me about how the cuticles shouldn’t be covered and that machines are a no go. She told me all about the products they use and why they’re not damaging to nails. She also explained to me the importance of having shellac and acrylics removed properly. That’s where the trouble lies. Perhaps me picking off my acrylics at 18 wasn’t such a good idea…

It’s now been over a week [24th July 2018] and my nails still haven’t chipped and feel stronger than ever.
Finally, I had my pedicure. Bliss. My feet must have been a challenge for the poor therapist. I could feel that there was some scrubbing to do. Walking up a mountain and back every day has clearly taken its toll on my pads and they definitely had worked up some hard skin.
I was given time to relax in the other therapy room, where I was given a selection of magazine and a foot massage tub and another coffee.
I opted for a sparkly blue mermaid looking nail polish, on both my hands and feet.
I really enjoyed my manicure, pedicure and eyebrow wax. I’ll definitely be back for an eyebrow wax, however, I don’t regularly have treatments so a manicure and pedicure would only ever be for another treat. Perhaps in time for Disney?!
My advice, take some flip-flops. Me showing how amateur I am was the fact that I had a fresh pedicure yet had to put my toes in closed shoes. So, I did end up smudging them a little.
Luckily, there’s a small shop nearby that sells cheap flipflops, but it’s ideal if you have them anyway!
FresHair

I also definitely needed a quick spruce up of my hair. It just didn’t have that bounce anymore.
Being in a different city or country for long periods of time, a big girl worry is who can I trust to cut my hair?!
I love Tracey doing my hair at FresHair, she really does do an amazing job for such good value. I can’t recommend the place enough.
Tracey at Freshair was the place where I took the plunge and cut my hair short.
If you’re looking for pampering in Benidorm and you’re closer to the Albir end, then definitely try Claire’s Salon, if you’re staying at the Hotel Bali, Magic Tropic Splash and La Cala end, then you can 100% trust FresHair to give you wonderful, bouncy hair on your holidays or a nice new set of nails!
