Thursday 25th October 2018 – Day 25 of Blogtober
Originally, I planned to make some Halloween treats, but, as the deadline loomed closer and closer, and with me working more hours, I didn’t get round to doing all of the baking, which I’m a little sad about! But, I did manage to make some pumpkin loaf whilst I was burning my Yankee Candle, so yes, my home smelt like the definition of Autumn. YES!
I planned so far in advance and most posts I can schedule way ahead of time, but with things like baking, you have to physically do the baking first to be able to schedule it. So, perhaps in November, I’ll do some baking and schedule it for October 2019. Nothing like preparation, hey?
Speaking of scheduling, I literally never know the date anymore. The other week, I wrote 23rd October, even though it was 23rd September, then I referred to next year as 2020, yes, that’s how far in advance I’ve been scheduling recently. Somebody grab me a cafe con leche, pronto.
Well, as I’ve been participating in Blogtober and I was so kindly nominated by https://qlquest.com, I’m going to answer some of the questions to get to know me and my likes, focused around Autumn.
I haven’t done a post like this in a long time and I think they’re so fun to look back on to see how things have changed.
Only the other day, I was reading my The Sunshine Blogger Award and The Liebster Blog Award and it’s so nice to read and see how things have changed – even in just a short period of time. My favourite bit is this:
“Every time I see a smaller blogger land a collaboration with one of their dream companies or write a piece for a big newspaper or magazine, I could burst with pride. I hope the same would be felt for me if that day should ever happen.”
It’s amazing that now I’m that person getting collaborations and working alongside publications. What a huge change in such a short period of time. I’m very proud of how things have progressed and it’s thanks to you all for reading!
Anyway, less rambling more answering.
This Blogtober Fall Tag was created by Ell of ellduclos.blog as a way for the blogging community to collaborate.
At the end of this post, I will tag 5 of my favourite bloggers – I can’t wait to read their answers!
What is one candle you MUST light every fall?
Confession, I don’t have any particular must have candles. I like the smell of candles and I like the cosiness, but I’m not precious to any. If there’s any candle I’m burning, it’ll be a Yankee Candle and usually pick up whichever one looks or smells pretty at the time. I’ve recently heard about Maple and Whisky Candle Company which do Disney scented, so I think I’ll be purchasing some of those, as well, this year.
When you think of Autumn, what does it remind you of?
Cooler nights and better sleep. The environment doesn’t really change here. Though, I did find three, yes three, brown leaves on the floor the other day. I definitely think about watching movies on the sofa with a blanket too.
What is your all-time favourite Halloween movie?
Not quite Halloween, but I love coco. I love the representation of the Hispanic community and it’s just a beautiful movie with a beautiful soundtrack.
What Halloween costume do you have in mind?
I’m thinking about something Harry Potter themed this year. Last year in Primark, they had a cape for Gryffindor so it would be a super easy costume to wear to work and means I won’t look crazy on the tram. Plus, it won’t be too scary for my younger kids.
What is your favourite Autumn trend?
I love plaid. I have a plaid shirt that I have had for about six years now from New Look, and it comes out every year. I love tying it around jeans, or wearing it rolled up at the beginning of Autumn. I love the plaid pattern so I’ll definitely be picking up some plaid dresses and skirts this season. And boots. Who doesn’t love boots?
When you think of Autumn, what drink comes to mind?
A nice warm hot chocolate, with cream and marshmallows. I’ve never made smores which is something I want to do one year. I’m going to aim to make them this year, though I imagine it’s not the same when you’re not sat around a campfire.
What is your go-to Autumn beauty product? A must-have staple!
I have to have Palmer’s cocoa butter and Palmer’s lip balm. I recently did a post on my Autumn beauty must-haves. You can read it here:
Do you prefer apple pie or pumpkin pie?
I don’t like either of them. I will try pumpkin loaf this season, so I’ll let you know if I like that!
Do you have any Autumn traditions? If so tell us about it!
We carve pumpkins every year and recently we’ve started decorating the house. We picked up a beautiful Dia de Muertos style candle holder skull from Dealz for just 1.50€, can’t wait to add that to our decoration collection.
The moment of truth, is Autumn your favourite season?
Alex says it’s my favourite season. But, I like all the seasons. I couldn’t live somewhere where there is absolutely zero change all year around. 30 degrees heat all year would do my head in. I like that there are subtle changes here, enough to notice that the season has shifted. I love summer, I love going to the pool and going on adventures. But, it gets too hot and you get sick of it. I love spring when the weather is cooler and the days are longer and brighter. But, I love Autumn and Winter when it’s cosy and you can sleep easy at night. I love all the seasons, but there’s something magical about the latter months of the year.
