90s Live Review at De Montfort Hall, Leicester

A tribute show that pays homage to the 90s hits paired with dance moves, costumes and all the screaming, sorry singing, along as you like. This is a non-stop 90s party and all across the nation, you’re invited!

You know there was never a time in my life where I particularly cared for night clubbing, the idea of being out past a time that ended in PM sounds like absolute hell for me, so yes, fairy godmother if you’re out there, I can appease all the rules because I will 100% always be home by midnight.

Anyway, I do have a relevant point to this. Stick with me.

I say this because the 90s Live is that perfect night out to cheesy 90’s music and the not so cheesy 90s music without the late night bedtime price tag. Jumping, dancing and singing along from 7:30 and still being home for 11pm. Now that is a night out I am fully onboard with.

I can appreciate not everybody is as old as me though at 29, so you’ll be pleased to know that the 90s Live goes in a great pace where it’s constant hits and come the latter side of the performance there are some club bangers to get you in the mood for a night on the town. (Now I do sound old).

The performers were brilliant at getting the audience pumped and involved. Looking around De Montfort Hall people were up and dancing, others were jumping, and a few were sat down tapping their feet and singing along. We all had our own way of showing how much fun we were having.

Production wise, I thought vocally they were fab. One of them was 16 and another had only just joined the show that week and both of them facts astonished me. I would’ve thought they’d been in it for the long haul.

This show feels like when you’re abroad and you head down to the hotel entertainment and it’s a themed tribute night. The best kinda holiday evenings. You’ll be transported to Costa Noventa as you celebrate the music of that generation.

I particularly enjoyed how the show was split into segments. You had your tribute bands, such as Spice Girls, Take That and S Club 7. You’ll have themed groups like 90’s cheese or 90’s BritPop. You’ll be singing Barbie Girl one minute then Angels the next and then Don’t Look Back in Anger a little later. Some of the songs will also be performed as a mega mix which helped to include so many more songs but keep the show at a reasonable running time.

This is a show that is great value for money and well worth going to see. It’s a show that will absorb all your energy and create a wonderful audience atmosphere. My highlights were MMMBop, Take That and The Vengaboys. Though, if I’m honest I loved it from start to finish. When there’s only two songs that you don’t love out of an entire 2 and a bit hour long show, I think you’re doing pretty darn good!

The show is touring throughout the nation right on through to May next year, stopping at the likes of Swansea, Bradford, Exeter, Nottingham, Basildon, Hull, Belfast, Middlesbrough and more. It’s also coming back locally to Loughborough on February 17th.

If it’s more 80s music that’s your scene, Entertainers U.K. do an 80s show too and based on the quality of the 90s show, I’m sure it will be just as brilliant.

The ultimate 90s party night out is waiting for you to pump up the jam one more time to the sounds of the decade.

As all ways a great balanced review , we have thought about going out to a show like this for a while , pre-covid we started going out as life allowed us to after years of not being able to. Now we can go out we are wanting to go. This might be the one.
